Enter at the trailhead using either of the entrances around the burm gaurding the south and west edges of the parking area. Join us for a special opportunity to meet the artists behind “For the Love of Birds” and learn more about their work. Reaching the famed Deer Haven area of the park, the only wooded area in the Badlands, is quite simple from the Conata Picnic Area, which is the best entrance to reach Deer Haven. Guests will be taken on a visual journey, showing how Ohio’s resident and migratory birds will be affected by climate change. Now for the good stuff: Backpacking through Badlands National Park will afford you the opportunity to interact with the parks wildlife (bighorn sheep, antelope, bison, coyotes, badgers, prairie dogs, etc. Pairing iwth the recently released Audubon Society climate report “Survival by Degrees”, the exhibit features the artists’ beautiful melted glass birds along with stunning photography throughout the Visitor Center.
